The overarching macroeconomic theme of today is clear: Long U.S. equities, bonds and the almighty USD. However, it appears that market participants are inadvertently ignoring a key element here. That is, the interconnected nature of these variables and how they contribute to a vicious feed back loop. A savings glut, largely concentrated in Asia, has flooded US markets, fueling a USD rally which in turn has contributed to lower global GDP.
