Chris Perkins, president of CoinFund, has a story unlike most in fintech investing. Perkins’ journey began at the US Naval Academy. After finishing grad school, he served in the United States Marine Corps. When he received orders to remain stateside during the Iraq War, he lobbied his superiors to serve in a combat role, and late participated in the Battle of Ramadi. A fellow marine helped him begin his career in finance at the now-defunct Lehman Brothers. That experience ultimately led to a very successful career as a Managing Director at Citi. However, he recently walked away at the height of his career in traditional finance to join CoinFund and participate in crypto’s incredible innovation and value creation.
