Decentralized finance is attempting to fix a problem. What’s the problem, and how do we fix it? Professor Campbell Harvey of Duke University joins Jim Bianco in a fundamental discussion about DeFi and central bank digital currency (CBDC). Through the lens of their shared backgrounds in traditional finance, they look to the future. The technology behind DeFi is complex and continues to evolve, but government regulation, if too harsh, can kill innovation and thwart economic growth. Harvey and Bianco also point out how data modeling sometimes relies too much on past outcomes and how data mining can often times mislead investors. Recorded on October 20, 2021.
