It all started with some wine-soaked conversations in a small fishing village in Spain…

Four people, not long after the 2008 market apocalypse, were discussing how royally screwed-over the person in street was by the financial crash that “came out of nowhere”.

One, who worked in finance, had “seen a lot of it coming and been writing about it for years”. Another, who worked in advertising, was bewildered by it all. “All of a sudden the banks — the banks for crying out loud(!) — were going bankrupt”.

How was it that some people knew what was coming, but the majority knew nothing until it was too late?

And so, the idea formed…
